Swatch Proofs is a series of monoprints created using a swatch of crochet constructed using acrylic yarn worked in rows of random treble stitches as a matrix.

Swatch Proofs itself is a simple overlap of my

printmaking, textile, and painting practice that manifests in this spontaneous, kinetic experiment.

It is a response to the tactile threads that link all three of these practices in my studio. By using

the crochet itself drenched in paint as a matrix, I am able to turn these moments into icons that

reference their making as the fluid paint retains evidence of their production. The paint settles

on top of and into the fibers of the paper, offering a reflection of the swatch within the same

sculptural vein as itself. The loops and swoops of the swatch and tiny flyaways are retained.

The weight and energy of the impact is retained. Each print is unique.
